Growing Market
ADAS components are one of the fastest growing categories in the automotive aftermarket. These sophisticated cameras and sensors are entirely powertrain neutral, meaning whether a vehicle is gas, hybrid or electric, the components and systems are the same. ADAS is here to stay, and it is going to grow exponentially in the coming years.
- Advanced Driver Assistance Systems rely on multiple sensors to provide real-time data to both the driver and the vehicle. Sensors that have failed or are not correctly calibrated may put the motorist and occupants at risk.
Between 2023 and 2030, sales of ADAS components will grow by 343%

Service Opportunities
Service Opportunities
Blind spot detection sensors are complex components that are subjected to harsh, under-vehicle conditions. Over time, and especially in cold climates where salt is used on the roads these sensors fail because of corrosion, salt and road debris.
Standard® offers more than 100 Blind Spot Detection Sensors and even has the hard to find connectors needed to help restore this important safety system.
- Some ADAS sensors are plug and play, while others, like steering angle sensors, must be calibrated upon installation to operate properly. It is recommended that ADAS components are installed by professionals who are experienced in diagnosing and repairing vehicles with electronic safety systems.

Engineering & Design
Engineering
Electronic safety systems are incredibly complex systems and every component must operate exactly as designed to keep the occupants safe. All Standard® ADAS components are engineered and manufactured to match the performance of the original and correctly integrate with the vehicle’s safety systems.
- The gyro processor used in the prototype of the first Electronic Stability Control system came from a toy helicopter. It wasn’t fast enough, so engineers sourced another from the warhead of a missile.

Manufacturing
Precision Manufacturing
Standard® ADAS components are designed and manufactured to stringent quality standards at IATF-certified facilities, so you can install with confidence.
- All new vehicles built after May of 2018 are required by law to have a park assist (or back-up) camera.

Testing & Validation
Testing & Validation
The quality and performance of each ADAS part matters, which is why Standard® tests each part to make sure it integrates correctly with safety systems, and functions in all conditions. Each component undergoes extensive testing and validation in the lab, on vehicles at our testing center in Texas to make sure each part correctly integrates with this complex system and helps keep the occupants safe.

ADAS Categories
Technicians look to Standard® for the parts required to do the job right. From Park Assist Cameras to Blind Spot Detection Sensors, Standard® has the parts needed to service ADAS systems correctly the first time.

Tech Tips & Impact on Vehicle Systems
As experienced ASE-certified automotive technicians themselves, Standard® Pro Trainers are experts in ADAS. Here’s what they say to look out for during an ADAS system service.
After a collision, the mounting surface of blind spot detection sensors and cruise control distance sensors must be returned back to factory specifications or the components will not be able to be calibrated correctly.
ADAS can lower crash rates by 20%, but only if the systems are properly maintained.
ADAS systems depend on real-time data from multiple components including ABS sensors and throttle position sensors.
Anytime an ADAS component is removed and reinstalled (even if it wasn’t replaced or unplugged), it needs to be checked to see if a calibration is required per service information. Always read and follow service information exactly and completely when performing a calibration – no short cuts.
Different manufacturers utilize different versions of calibrations. Static is performed in the service bay and dynamic is performed while driving in specific conditions. Always check manufacturers’ service information for the vehicle you’re working on.
Ensure that all prerequisites are met and correct (vehicle ride height, fuel tank level, tire pressure, etc.) prior to performing a calibration.
