SMP Honored for Technical Library Donation The Automotive Trades Department of Alfred State College honored Standard Motor Products, Inc., for their generous gift of a complete automotive technical service library. In conjunction with a day of training and interactive automotive technology demonstrations at the Wellsville, NY campus, a banquet was held where SMP was recognized for their endowment. As a leading independent manufacturer and distributor of replacement parts for motor vehicles, SMP was recognized by the College in gratitude for its donation of a comprehensive collection of technical training manuals, engineering specs, and wiring diagrams from 1960 through 2008 worth approximately one million dollars. A plaque was presented to SMP in acknowledgement of their dedication to Progress through Partnership demonstrated by SMP’s commitment to developing and supporting the unique partnership for automotive education. Before deciding on the recipient, SMP conducted a national search for the right educational institution and decided on Alfred State College, because of the fine work the college is doing educating future technicians and its impact on the future of the industry. SMP’s long history of supporting automotive technical education is founded in a profound understanding that tomorrow’s technician is the future of the automotive aftermarket.
