SMP fuel system developers have re-engineered a regular gasoline fuel injector for use in diesel applications in an effort to help lower harmful diesel emissions. This advanced technology injector will meet the new EPA diesel particulate emission requirements.
Designed in our SMP fuel injection facility in Greenville, SC, this new diesel injector is engineered to spray fuel into the exhaust particulate filter to set off a burn-off cycle. This sequence will reduce the carcinogenic particulates that are dangerous to the environment and common in diesel exhaust.
This innovative design is currently in mid-prototype stage and SMP expects this injector to begin manufacturing by the 4th quarter of 2009.
