SMP Receives Recognition For Training SMP receives recognition in automotive systems training and has received numerous awards for this outstanding training and customer support. During 2009, SMP received numerous Outstanding Training Awards from their customers, one for the ninth consecutive year, all in recognition of SMP’s commitment to helping customers achieve success through effective training and support.  SMP field and in-house training requires a joint effort on the part of the sales force and our training department. This continued dedication and hard work is what has made this award possible for another year.  SMP Technical Training is recognized as the best in the industry. The “Masters Series” Engine Management Technician Training Programs and TCD Advanced Temperature Control Diagnostic Strategies Training taught by nationally recognized automotive trainers provide advanced diagnostic and systems training to thousands of technicians.  The advanced, hands-on training courses are conducted at SMP’s Corporate Training Center in Irving, Texas. During 2009, SMP conducted approximately 1,150 nights of PTS Seminar Technician Training Series and trained approximately 37,000 technicians. SMP has recently unveiled new online Counter Person and Technician training programs that are available through SMP brand websites. Counter Person Training provides in-depth knowledge about the various brand products and Technician’s Toolbox contains useful information to help technicians solve real-world problems.  In January 2010, SMP introduced the PTS Online Technician Training Series.  This ongoing series of interactive web based training events (16 events to be conducted in 2010) provide a virtual classroom for professional technicians to learn, train and communicate with experienced and professional trainers on a variety of topics based on real world case studies. This series, targeting professional technicians, allows them to keep up with changing technology and hone their skills.
